SINGAPORE BUSES
Volume One SINGAPORE BUS SERVICE Part One EARLY SINGLE-DECK BUSES AND THE FIRST DOUBLE-DECKERS By Mike Davis – Ron Phillips and F. W. York |
NOW AVAILABLE
The
present day SBS Transit can trace its ancestry back 100-years to the opening
of the first electric trams in 1905.
It is thus most appropriate that the
first part of the vehicle history of SBS should be published in this
centenary year. Following the format of earlier DTS
Publishing books on Hong Kong Buses, published in the 1990s, this book
examines the vehicles inherited by SBS upon its formation in 1973 as well as
most bus types purchased new up until approximately 1983. Also included are the single-deck
demonstration vehicles taken into stock for evaluation as well as the first
double-deckers of 1977. A4 softbound, 102 pages. 180
pictures,(including 45 in colour) plus fleetlists of all known buses within
the period reviewed. A second volume to bring the
story up to date is under active and advanced preparation |

DMS
ColourScene
Volume
Three
by Nigel Eadon-Clarke |
This third volume in the DMS
ColourScene series continues to follow members of the class during their time
after sale by London Transport. In
this volume, as well as looking at the varied colours worn by these remarkable
vehicles in their home country during 1985-1988, we see them in widely varied
overseas locations, namely the USA (Denver, Chicago and New York), Hong Kong
and Mainland China (Jilin, Dalian and Guangzhou). This must be the most interesting DMS book yet to be
published. |

The Southdown Queen Marys A Souvenir by Julian Osborne |
Julian Osborne has thoroughly
revised and updated his 1985 book, The Southdown PD3s (Capital Transport)
and extended it with much new material including the reminiscences of others.
There are contributions from Richard Cossey, Michael Dryhurst, Alan Lambert,
Stephen Morris and Bruce MacPhee, the latter giving an illuminating insight
into the engineering aspects of the Queen Marys whilst under his care. Colour
pictures have replaced some original black and whites and many additional
pictures - mostly in colour - have been added to bring the story, including
the preservation situation, up to date. |
